Do You Skip Work?

Browsing Instagram is an everyday task for some. On my feeds, this popped up and made me wonder. What do you think of this quote, “Every day you skip training you become that much easier to beat”? Is there a line between skipping training and losing? What are your thoughts?

In business, jobs, sports, and daily activities we go hard and harder. We don’t have a stop button. We have a goal and keep going until we accomplish our goal. In most cases, we eventually burn ourselves out. We talk a lot about hard work, but not enough about smart work. Working hard and working smart are two different ideas. There are times where we need to keep pushing to reach the end. But, there are other times where we need to take a break to replenish.

I believe every day you don’t train; people are preparing to kick your butt. But, do people ever stop practicing to beat you? Do they? If you don’t strengthen what you have on the interior, you’re not going to be able to fight the exterior. It’s time to balance between rest days and go hard days. It's time to work smarter and not harder.

Taking time off for recovery isn’t weak, it’s allowing you to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. Any exercise you continuously do day in and out will tire you out.  If you don't take recovery days, energy levels will decrease, strength will weaken, motivation will shift, and weariness will kick in.  Sleep more, stay hydrated, stretch, foam roll, or swim. Do what is necessary for you. Being setback is a loss not skipping training.
