Don't Put Me in A Box

Do you like to be compared to people? Does a comparison mean the person sees their situation to be similar to yours?

Well, let me get straight to the point. I don't like it when people compare me to them! I'm pretty much unpredictable. Some people are happy being compared to Beyonce, Serena or even Laila Ali. While they are all great in their field, I believe every individual has something uniquely them and only they can master. Serena Williams and Li Na are different players with different strengths and weaknesses. I appreciate an individual player. Don't put the two together.

Many women on the tennis tour lose a match and are down for a while. These women could be deadly because "misery loves company." Just because you lost a competition doesn't mean you are the same as another that shared a similar outcome. Yes, we both missed the mark, but it could have been for different reasons. Yours could have been lack of serve motion. Mine could have been tanking and giving up. Please don’t find me to discuss your problems.

Losses teach you. It shows you what you need to do better. Trials can be discouraging, but usually, it’s a lesson learned. It's not a pity party.

Don't put me in a box.
